Need your point of view for relocation.

I am getting a dream job at  Facebook, Seattle. HR said I can do remote work as long as I want. My wife and I work in Washington DC and we stay in a rental apartment. My wife works for a banking company as a program manager. She was in marketing and product management and then moved to IT- Program Management for the last six years. As we were excited to move to Seattle she started her job search specially in the Bay and Seattle areas for the last two month. We have applied for many positions in these locations but did not get call from anyone. But she got call from all other location and she cracked two positions One of them in Richmond , Capital One on a role of "Delivery Manager-IT" Capital one is the best employer with DIBs culture and people who interview her are the best(empathic), from two intuitions.  Problem: Should we shift to Seattle with her current job and then let her do job search in the Seattle area or Should we shift to Richmond as my work type will be remote or Should we continue with her current job in DC and then try to identify position in seattle -may be in one year we may get one or two jobs in seattle? Our reservations points: We will be staying at one location                                         Education for Kids                                          Both must work                                         Salary and Money is not a issues at all What we think: We think we should move to Richmond , as she is frustrated in her current job as there is nothing new to learn and she is doing a lot of other work which is irrelevant to her job. With capital one she will get a new point of view of thinking and working as best teams and she will be able to show her best potential for next jobs more clearly. Also she will learn a lot more things at Capital one (process/innovation/good leaders) etc... Drawback: If she changes her job and wants to continue for one year there and find a new job after one year - it will be difficult as settling in a new role and then finding a new job does not make sense. What we think  :-) : She should continue with her current job and find a role from here for seattle ,bay area. With this she will get more time on preparation as she is already working with the current team from the last two years. My son's got admission in best school in DC (grade 5) and he feels he should continue in DC  Drawback: We don't know when we will get the opportunity to interview for Seattle position and success rate for the same. Your advice will be really helpful to see your point of view on this dilemma.  Thanks for taking time to read this long post. #relocation #familysearch #life #remotework

Highly recommend to take new role and relocate to Richmond. Since you already have remote role, why you wanna relocate to Seattle even after a year? Did you research on it’s weather compared to Richmond? Climate is not the only point, Richmond is also pretty good area with lot of opportunities.

We live in NoVA and used to live in Redmond. I recommend moving to Richmond because of housing costs in the Seattle area. You can always move to WA later.
