Hi, I’m currently looking for new grad positions. I have a Wells Fargo offer (nyc, 125k no promotion for two years, swe). I got an interview with T Rowe Price but I saw on levels that their salary is 100k (last updated for ny is 2022). I was wondering if anyone can confirm that this is the salary for t Rowe price associate swe position and if it’s possible to negotiate to 125k? Also, wf or trp for moving into more tech oriented companies in the future?
Just a general difference between two companies and how it impacts comp. Wells Fargo is a company that offers retail, institutional banking, asset management and investment management. If you are in institutional side or sell side, salaries are generally higher than buy side places like TRowe. TRowe is into retirement, life insurance etc and typically will always have lower comp than institutional banking. On the flip side buy side firms are slower in pace with lower risk of job losses in down turn. Which division of WF do you have that offer from?
Technology , in their 2 year early career tech analyst position
This might not help but isn’t there a law in NYC requiring job posts to include TC range? If it’s not on there then you can let the recruiter know and they should be able to tell you
That’s a good point. I might email to ask about salary range. Do you think I should mention my current salary offer to them when asking ?
Wells salaries are generally higher overall. In long term way more upside at Wells for salary and bonus.
Looked internally for you. Salary range for KM1 is 74k-124k but for new york i know it starts at 90k and the cap is the same That being said we will have a higher 401k match and probably a better overall better benefits package then WF. But in terms of WLB I know the NYC team is a bit more hardcore then normal T. Rowe culture
Do you know if new grad/associate swe offers are negotiable? Also thanks for looking!
Higher than 6% match?
I am at TRP KM2 in LCOL 110k Salary 15k Bonus 2k Travel Stipend ESPP 50% (2k free monies) T Rowe also does a variable 401k contribution (in addition to a match) that’s ~15k per year
What is LCOL?
Low Cost of Living.
They explicitly told you you won't be eligible for promotion for two years? Weird.
Let your recruiter know you got an offer and ask what the salary range on the position is. This is their job.
