Why so many toxic therapy terms being thrown around

Everyone and their dogs keep talking about their toxic narcissist abusive gaslighting ex. Love bombing, hoovering, npd, bpd. Are these traits even that common? Feel like a lot of people using these terms are usually the most difficult. Also, looking at the therapist talks/blogs about many of these things make like 80 percent folks qualified for these tags. Without any diagnosis, people telling each other everything is a red flag and to GTFO, and ghost their partner.

You’re describing “therapy-speak.” It’s annoying and usually misinterpreted or misapplied by the people who use it. We only have ourselves to blame. All of our focus and attention goes to science and quantifiable metrics, so we only understand ourselves in clinical, healthcare terms.

People watch a lot of tik toks and regurgitate it to show they are smart and justify their own behavior.

Mostly because so many people are awful and now it's finally accessible to have language to describe it.

Wow, another blanket statement

“So many people” … so it’s not a blanket statement. “Everyone and their dog…” this is a blanket statement.

Almost everyone has narcissistic traits. This is normal for human beings. NPD, however, is rare and hard to diagnose tbh. Mainly because someone who has NPD would never seek help since they think they are perfect.

A lot of narcissists like to call their partners narcissistic but get pissed when they are called so. Don’t pay too much attention to them.
