Hi all I have cleared all the rounds in thoughtworks singapore, they are trying to offer me a senior consultant role at 135k sgd base, it seems like a lowball offer considering my experience and current salary. Will they provide rsu , signon bonus and year end bonus. Do you feel its worth negotiating? Should i negotiate for a lead role ? #thoughtworks Blind tax YOE- 9+ years Current salary - 125k sgd
Sorry for hijacking your question. May I know how much could be monthly (after tax) for 144k SGD (12k/month) ?
Singapore does not withhold your tax, so up to you as to how you want to pay. If you want to split taxes over the next 12 months, it would be a little less than 1k per month.
Wow... So, for 12,000 SGD, tax would just be 1,000 SGD? So TC in Singapore should be considered higher when comparing the same numbers of TC in other country for eg: US, Canada where there could be 30-40% tax. Right?
OP, have you not ask HR if they offering u any RSU or bonus payout other than base ? If they do, then they will clearly mention that in offer. Do Ask !
Sure i am interested to know if there are any new joiners who got RSU, and to clarify the salary is offered as 13 months, unlike 12 months.
yes, salary offered in 13months!
In SG the usual practice is to quote a Monthly Pay unlike Yearly TC in US/EU. The 13th Month Pay is not mandatory buy common benefit which majority of firm in SG pay to thr employee as Year End Bonus in December. If your TC only comprises of Base pay, then i think 135k is considered as lowball for 9+ year exp.
It's not lowball, SG just has a European level of salaries with California level housing costs. Just check levels.fyi I think it's accurate.
Singapore is a tax haven. In the end, it's not how much you get paid but how much you can save. For foreigners the biggest expenses in Singapore will be rental and education (if you have kids). Forget about cars. Too expensive and you don't really need it.
You can say you need to sponsor your parents thus 150k base is needed (12k/month as per regulations).
Can you expand on what regulations ?
The government requires residents to have a salary >12,000SGD to be able to sponsor their parents to come to live in Singapore. If you have a salary of 10,000SGD (<12k) you won’t be able to sponsor your parents. Google it, and you can use it as a lever that TC of 144k is the least acceptable.
