Austin market

What Austin companies use technical staffing agencies like TEKsystems, Kforce, etc?

Why?

Because I'm new to Austin and want to understand the competition, clients, etc before I make a push on who to work with.

Roc Search are the worst. Very aggressive low-ballers. Computer Futures are the most incompetent recruiters I've ever worked with. TEKSystems are spammers, I blocked them years ago. KForce are pretty standard, like McDonald's, u know what you're gonna get. I'm a dev, not a recruiter, but Austin recruitment seems like bro culture. I prefer dealing with the smaller agencies. It's hard to say, there are recruiters that check in on me now and then, that are pleasant to talk to, but never have anything.

I looked into TEKsystems and I did not think it was worth it. what are some benefits to using staffing agencies like I'm missing?

If you find a good agency, it's like having an agent working for you to help you find positions. I.e. contract, contract to hire, and permanent

I would also leverage apps like Jobr and Hired as well. If you know anyone in the area in IT, ask him or her what recruiter they work with. I used to be in technical recruiting (specifically TEKsystems and later a smaller IT staffing agency). Some recruiters are great.. others not so much, so make sure you get a good recruiter and don't bank on working with a reputable agency. Ask about the agency's relationship with the client. For example, if you're looking at a larger corporation that works with 50+ vendors and the agency you're working with is a tier 4.. chances are you may not even get an interview if the organization hires candidates they found through their tier 1 and 2 vendors during the first round of interviews. Also, keep a log of the different staffing agencies you work with and what organizations they are representing you for. You don't want to allow another agency to submit you to the same client you were submitted by another agency or you will be double-submitted and the client will throw out your resume entirely. Get everything in writing. If the recruiter offers you holiday and paid time off if you're considering a contract gig, make sure you get that promise in writing.

Only shitty companies in Austin use recruiters, generally speaking. Bidding Network was good though.

Every major company uses contracting/ consulting that Ive seen outside of Amazon. Use Brooksource, Apex, or Modis.
