interviewing for a position at waymo through a staffing agency. what is the likelihood of getting converted to FTE from a contract position. I wish I could have got a fte opportunity at waymo
Which staffing agency?
Keep in mind google in general only has about 38 percent full time employees through Google. The rest temps, vendors and contractors. That should tell you getting converted is a very low chance with your contract company dangling a carrot that it's a possibility.
TBH, you have almost Zero chance of getting converted to FTE from a contractor role. You have to apply independently like any non Google employee
Facebook allows contractors to interview when a person's contract ends. Google must have similar options. However, that would be a last resort if you couldn't land interview chance at google/waymo. Other than that 99% of the time, there is no hope for conversion. Also it is in the best interest of you staffing agency to keep you in their payroll as long as possible. So they are not going to assist you getting an fulltime offer. some consultancies even add non-compete clauses even before you start contract position.
