Sad to see Meta
FB contributed a lot to software industry, played a pivotal role in rising TCs of techies when google was low balling back in the last decade. Sad to see it's decline and it's even sadder to see some Fellow engineers celebrating the fall. Hope Meta & economy makes a comeback soon.

Dude, I mentioned meta because it's a leader in tech. I didn't say I have bad feeling about it's future, but I'm feeling bad about it's current decline. This doesn't imply that I'm feeling good about CBs current state
We just need our TCs to remain high. Hopefully the tech bloodbath doesn’t destroy so many companies that it results in a meaningful decline in demand for tech talent.
IMO it's a pendulum. As inflation continues and interest rates increase, cost pressures will lead to higher unemployment. So people will accept jobs at lower wages which will drive TC down in short -medium term. But to your point, I think need for tech talent will only increase over the years so this may be somewhat mitigated for tech roles and will eventually increase in the long term.
Part of the reasons for their current predicament is the over hiring and over paying they did.
Not really, it is more about the business tide turn. That is not about employees.
Yeah, they capped out the maximum human user base. They either need to wait for more humans to be born, or they need a new product in addition to their current stuff. And they gambled it all on metaverse, which isn't panning out

You want Meta, which makes money by selling user data and causes depression among young people to make a comeback so that us techies can keep our TCs high? I love money as much as the next person here, but Meta needs to go.
Meta doesn't need to go but needs a new leader. Even at the current stock price Zuck is still one of the richest people on the planet and should focus on philanthropy and MMA. The board needs to bring in someone with a better moral compass who doesn't despise his own employees who are busting their butts to make him richer.
New leader like Fidji Simo or Sheryl Zuckerberg?
