I want to hear an opinion from people who dont have kids but not feeling too isolated from society especially. Me and my partner agreed that we dont want any kids but its hard to imagine when I become 50 or 60. I just turned into 33. TC 285 might be just enough to run a family of 3 or 4 in bay area but I know it will be a bit tight too. We don’t want to “sacrifice”. Hope it does not sound too selfish.
Let me put it this way: if you don't have kids you might regret it, but if you do you are very unlikely to say "I wish I didn't".
You have kids, you sacrifice. No wiggle room. If don’t want to, stay sterile.
If you don’t want to sacrifice, for the love of God don’t have kids. Kids = sacrifice on every front. That being said they’re a labor of love and they complete me in a way that getting married, making money, traveling the world, buying a house etc never could
Good: If they grow up beautifully. Bad: if they grow up ugly. So choose your partner wisely.
I spent much more time with friends, on things I enjoyed before having kids. If anything, having kids has been an isolating experience as there’s no time for anything else. I’m told that will change as they get older but for now life is pretty hard...
How old are your kids? Yes it gets easier
2 and 4, practically almost as a single dad
There’s always the bonus of being evolutionarily successful, fwiw. I think when you first have kids it’s not that big a deal. They don’t remember anything from the first years of life, and they can share a room. Eventually, you’ll have to increase your commute for the trade off of more livable space at home. I’m gonna have another kid soon. Idk. So far so good in the bay. Long term will move - but I would want to move anyways. Everything is so dirty here.
DINK here. No regrets.
Dink?
Dual Income, No Kids
Wake up, have kids if you can, spend money make money invest wisely
Double income no kids. Trust me of you can have kids to make your life miserable while you spend more on them and less on your own stuff, god will allow you a greater lifestyle. Neve chase the dollar
Isn’t it insane that the bay is so expensive 300k is barely squeezing by when you have kids
