Nothing wrong or illegal. It is illegal if you work on different H1-B at the same time, but no issues while filing change of employer with multiple companies

Meaning 2 different H1Bs?

Amazon aRLk76 Mar 10, 2023

There should not be an issue. And I will actually encourage you to do it. Had a bad experience in 2020, when a company delayed their H1B filing date after communicating an earlier date in my offer letter(knowing I was in 60 day limit), and another company rescinded my offer even after it was signed. It was a nightmare for me because I only wanted one company to file visa (while still interviewing as a backup). You and your family comes first. (This was before Amazon.) If companies can treat employees like that, it is fair game for employees. Just make sure you are okay with burning bridges for one of the companies.

Thanks for your understanding. I am sorry you have gone through that. I have already gone through a lot of visa shit in past. And, my family was helplessly suffering: I don't want to go though all that all over again.

No issues. Preferred and encouraged in todays market to increase your chances

Microsoft Hvyniu7yh OP Mar 10, 2023

okk.. its not initial H1B. Its transfer from Microsoft to another company.

Doesn’t matter as it’s not a guaranteed transfer until it’s done. Plus what if one rescinds offer. Better to be have each leg is a different boat these days

As faar as I know it’s not technically a transfer, it’s two fresh independent petitions

Microsoft Hvyniu7yh OP Mar 10, 2023

okk.. its my first time so did not know. I have only heard from recruiter that its a transfer.

Amazon rumpapapum Mar 10, 2023

It is allowed. Don’t worry.

It’s perfectly ok. USCIS evaluates each transfer petition individually, since they are all cap exempt. I once had 2 transfers and 1 extension petitions going on at the same time. You never know which one goes to RFE (request for evidence) and which ones get approved, so they all can go in parallel and you choose which one you want to honor and go with later.
