serious Q: Ive noticed an increased amount of ppl wih the metadata - she/her - tagged at the end of their email/communciation signatures, profile names (like LI), etc. what does it mean? is it a movement? or like... is the person a T or something and wants to make shit clear upfront? seriously asking so i dont accidently offend ppl yeah and TC 🌲fiddy Wakanda foreva
Virtue signaling
I honestly don’t even know what that shit means
Could be T or just being an ally. By stated preferred pronouns it shows support for people of all gender identities. I guess it is sort of a movement.
It means it’s ok to address them as she/her
Perfect, HR answers. So in normal circumstances, what’s the new, proper etiquette to address ppl in 3rd person? Them?
They/Them for someone whose pronouns you don't know
It’s cool that you are asking the question. The state of social gender identity right now is that you can’t assume if someone is a he/she/whatever. Prevalence of people who don’t identify as a traditional gender is very high now. So to make it clear they just include their pronoun for you so there’s no guessing. If you look at Facebook for example they have like 60 gender identities for your selection.
By high you mean < 0.01% right?
Trans alone is 0.6%
Yes, it’s a movement. It was originally used by transgender people to let people know the gender they identify as, so you don’t have to make assumptions based on look. Later, it’s used by cisgender people to signal support. It’s also used to just clarify with people since some names are gender neutral and you can’t tell.
Just virtue signaling. People trying to normalize delusions of an extremely small group of people with mental illness. I don't care what you call yourself or think about yourself. Just don't make others have to participate in it.
Wait, so you are saying people are not allowed to name themselves or choose how they would like to be addressed? What about people that are intersex, or have xxy or xxx or xyy chromosomes? What about females that are born with testicles or males that have a uterus? (They have male or female genitalia externally but internally have other organs). Are you saying people's appearance determines how they should be treated?
People who are intersex (hermaphrodites) are, first of all, incredibly rare. They are also almost always far more developed in one direction. This decision is almost always made at birth or shortly after. And it is not a normal thing but a birth defect / disorder. Some people are born with 4 fingers on a hand but we don't pretend like that's the norm. That is also much different than the current idiocy of people trying to force everyone else to ignore everything we know about biology and how we interact with each other based on their feelings and what they want to personally identify as. If you are a man, you are a "he". If you are a woman, you are a "she". If you want to pretend that you are a woman when you are actually, biologically, a man, fine. Do it on your own in your own head. But expecting the rest of society to partake in your delusion is lunacy.
So woke.
SJW wokeness. Nobody cares how you identify as long as it's not as a jerkwagon
I encourage you to check out Jordan Peterson student confrontation on campus. Then you can go down a rabbit hole of privilege via victimization Olympics. Don't thank me, you'll hate society more so
The person is not necessarily T but they want to provide cover for people who are.
