i cant stand this shit. all day VCs and chat. it feels so unsustainable. wonder how many people burn out through this over time (compared to working at the office).
I want to believe blind is an echo chamber, but every friend/colleague I talk to is complaining of burn out. Hang in there, do less work. Provide feedback to your boss about pushing deadlines. Employers can’t fire everybody for low performance all at once.
The fact is not everyone is performing low. There are some whose productivity has increased loads after wfh coz they don't have to travel. Also, not everyone is lonely as some have family, friends etc. So if you don't perform, your job can likely be on the line. It's not like companies will have a lot of trouble replacing low performers as supply>>demand for most tech positions right now
I personally love WFH and have been doing it prior to COVID. I’d hate to ever have to give it up. I’m interested in the personality differences that might explain why some people thrill in WFH and other loath it. I’m not a full introvert by any means but definitely lean in that direction which I’m sure helps with my enjoyment of a wfh arrangement. Is it the direct people engagement that it missed or maybe the buzz of a business office?
I’m an introvert but don’t like 100% WFH because it reduces my work efficiency. It’s just harder to collaborate remotely. I would prefer a 3 days home 2 days office mix to balance it out.
What is your role? It's different for SDEs vs roles like PM, Sales, PMM that depend more on relationships, conversations to be successful
The current WFH situation is not the typical situation prior to Covid. I work 100% from home even before Covid. I would schedule lunches and dinners with friends and ex-coworkers. Would also sometimes go work from the library or starbucks, just to change environment a bit. Now that we have covid all those extra things are pretty much cancelled. I am not working any more hours than before Covid but I do feel the monotony. I go from my home office to my couch after work, instead of out anywhere. I do have almost all my meetings on video which helps with getting to talk with people.
I love it. People complaining are extroverts, lol. I know a little bit of you extroverts die during every Zoom call, 😆. Sick it up buttercups. 😷 up!
I’m an introvert and I hate it.
I like to WFH. The best would be to sometimes go to the office 1-2 days a week just to see other people than my family and cats.
2 days office and 3 days at home. The 2 days in office should be for finishing up all team sprint updates, architecture meetings, team building activities and such. That way we maximize human interaction , WLB and productivity
I agree 100% with you. And you better explained it!
Best way to manage stress - Turn ON your office laptop at 9 AM and switch it OFF at 5 PM. No Exceptions.
In this situation you have to work 24/7
Really? Where US or Europe?
I am more productive and effective when i wfh. The only time I would like to go in to the office is once a week for my 1:1s. The in person 1:1s are more impactful and build trust. Other than that, it's more the monotony of not being able to dine in at a restaurant or visit a bookstore or go to the museum once in a while, that gets to me...
I’m less productive but enjoy it more. I feel completely disconnected from work. Also, with nothing much going on outside of work I find ways to keep myself busy but the days blend together more

Cleared Amazon onsite, but lowballed.
Already burned out. Workload at G is substantially lower. Just the monotonous schedule without seeing another human office is wearing me out
exactly the same. It’s just not rewarding to work all day into the cloud and not having the real life interactions. Gratification not given :(
Maybe I should switch to google 😕
