I sometimes end up seeing twitter posts from wsj Sometimes interesting ones Took me some time to remember that wsj is subscription only It’s only $1 but makes me curious, does anyone pay to read articles now a days ? I thought all websites (news articles , etc ) worked mostly on ads or sponsorship Are there many out there that work on a fee ? I guess Quora is also fee based Also these that are subscription based then do they not show ads ? Again not complaining that they are charging , genuinely curious if that model works? Any of you subscribe to wsj ? 275
I pay for a few subscriptions. Stripe has an yearly education benefit which you can use.
I for a minute thought as a small business owner I could do a yearly subscription and reduce the fee you guys charge 😀🤪
Haha! I don’t work on the product side of things, but as I understand it our rates vs the functionality we provide, are best in the industry.
I wish there were a micro payment system where I could read whatever I want and a few cents would be distributed to the content creators, instead of having to get a whole subscription to a publication that only has a few things I want. It was one of the core ideas from the earliest days of the Internet, when it was still just an idea, that never happened. Ted Nelson, who created the idea of hypertext (that Tim Berners Lee later turned into the web) proposed a micropayment system in *1960* for his not yet existing hypertext system. 62 years later we still don't have it.
Brave does that with Brave Rewards to some extent
i pay for the wsj/marketwatch/barrons combo and a few substack newsletters
You can get WSJ for free through your library card
There is a browser extension ( for desktop)....it's on GitHub and you have to sideload it.... You can read almost anything , it bypasses paywalls
Yea go for Barron’s. They will give you “today’s” trends and movements in the market. You would know why stocks are going up/down and what’s triggering them. Your general idea on economy will go up.
