Hi all I am new here and also joined MS few weeks ago Prior to this I was in a smaller company which was also my 1st company After my interview with MS, they sent me the offer letter without even asking for any expectation The MS recruiter was not ready to negotiate with my below competing offers. I had multiple offers(Flipkart, Goldman, Grab, Zeta) all were 0-25% higher than MS comp . I knew choosing MS would be compromising on work quality, tech stack and all but I chose it as I didn't have a big brand company yet in resume Came across blind recently and read multiple stories of MS lowballing. I understand people getting high end offers might have done something(interview/better competing offers etc) to deserve that but I got to know MS gives more rsu's to a fresh grad hire than mine Is my MS offer the lowest end of L61, or is it even worse than L60 ? Because call me money minded if you will, but cant really work at a place where they in no parity at all, as I feel now that as per my previous base, competing offers and L61 range at MS they should have given a better comp Previous Tc - 22L all fixed Yoe - 4.5 MS Tc (L61) - 22L base + 10% performance bonus + 4L rsu/year ~=28L + 2JB #tech #microsoft #advice
Welcome to Microsoft
Whoever’s saying it’s a fair L61 offer has no idea what they’re talking about. I talked to 3 lateral L61 hires from different orgs. They’re all making between 40-50L. What org are you in? I’m guessing it’s CSEO?
I am in C+AI, Azure
Wow, that’s surprising considering it’s one of the higher paying orgs too! Are you from a tier 3 college, from an unknown previous company or have spectacularly bad academics? The recruiter & HM must have been very sure that you wouldn’t join elsewhere to give you this offer even after seeing your counter-offers. Or they had other good people in pipeline. In any case, don’t worry too much about it. You will have lots of free time here. Start leetcoding and VWYF.
I know a friend with 58L as L61
You should have been careful before joining. Msft always try to lowball and u fell in a trap. Now wait for couple of years and enjoy learning part
Or I can GTFO before my JB is paid maybe
No no.stay now. Coming from small company, Msft will give good career brand and azure is top notch to work on these days. You can move to L62 in 1-2 years and move to international msft if needed. Recruiters will always chase you. If u get 40+,then only think of jumping, else stay and relax.
What were the offered TCs from flipkart, zeta, GS, grab?
Switch to a team where you feel you will learn. Stay for a year or two , depending on the team you join and the rewards. But definitely leave within 2 years
Stay at MS for 2 years, work hard, keep grinding leetcode, and then jump ship. Microsoft is a great place to have on your resume. You can go anywhere from here - Google, FB London, unicorns, soonicorns, etc.
Kind of L60 offer. At 4.5 getting L60 is bad. better switch after 1-2 yr.
I was in similar position. switched within 2 yr with 150% hike. I had joined MS for brand name.
Is spending 1-2 year worth because learning wise also i dont see much, my team works with SQL server majorly, there are few backend services in .net, whearse prior to this I was working on Java, python and more open source tech which looked more useful What tech did you work on in your time at MS ?
