I am an ICB5 currently under exception processing for H1 renewal at Broadcom along with the other folks in the August to December expiry window. There have been no concrete updates since the last month on the decision. I have an external offer with a reduced TC (compared to Broadcom) which I have accepted since the deadline was due. The new company has initiated the H1 processing just now. I am not overly keen to join the new company, but had gone ahead with the process so far to have a backup option since my visa expires Sep 2024. I am wondering if I should go ahead with the H1 filing/approval at the new company before intimating my current manager, and then back out later if the approval comes through at Broadcom. I understand the new company would hate this and probably blacklist me, but at the same time I am not confident enough to rely on Broadcom and reject the new offer. The other option is to intimate my current manager about the new offer right now which might expedite the approval (or denial) for my case. I am not able to reveal the details on the current team and the new employer offer since I feel it could reveal my identity. Looking for inputs on how best to handle this situation.
Suggestion: Don’t be intimate with your manager (unless he/she is cute).
lol I saw this too. Don’t understand why intimate with manager with this situation
You really wanna trust Broadcom with visa related matters after what they've done? Lol
Why are you hesitant to leave Broadcom? They have made it very clear that they don’t want so many H1B employees. Do not wait for any confirmation from Broadcom about H1B. Two of my teammates have been burned by this and are scrambling now to find jobs.
Are you worried about your perm? If not, why won’t your h1b renewal not approved while at Broadcom?
I have my I140 already approved at previous company. PD is 2018, so not really worried about that. Broadcom is treating H1 renewals for VMware employees as exceptions, meaning not renewed by default
Is the new company stable wrt layoffs, visa?
