Hey everyone. I was curious as to how capital one will be monitoring adherence to their new RTO policies. The email was pretty vague (ex: some weeks we can work remotely but others will require more time in). It seems the expectation based on the email is 2-3 times a week, but my manager said just once a week should be fine. However, I don’t have too much faith in what my manager is telling me as he said I could work remotely/only go into the office when I like when I was hired less than 6 months ago. With this in mind, I’m wondering if anyone has any insight into how Capital One will be monitoring office attendance. Will they be tracking badge swipes daily? Monthly? Could I not just swipe my badge a bunch of times one day to make it seem like I go in more than I do? My entire team is in another location, so I’m pretty frustrated by this decision, so any help would be greatly appreciated!! TC: 160K #returntooffice #hybrid
We don’t know
Go three days a week at the beginning and reassess in a couple of months
“ Could I not just swipe my badge a bunch of times one day to make it seem like I go in more than I do” Who the F made you software engineer? Lol 😝
I’ve heard of a few companies tracking in that manner so just covering my bases
This sounds so obviously wrong. Come on, OP.
I think they will monitor your venture x usage- do you use the public transportation at a certain time or buy coffee at a certain location close to the office, etc. And it’s not limited to capital one employees, they do it for everyone!
Good thing I don’t have any capital one products lol!
Why is capital one doing rto too? Are they just following the trend that Amazon started?..
They built a massive new shiny campus that opened same time COVID hit...
Badge is what most companies are doing. If you use a company issued laptop for work the company has every right to track the location of that asset (at least in the US). Another method I’ve seen is email IP access history. Gmail knows if you’ve made an anomalous login which implies there is a (log) cache to compare each attempt against. The company knows which IP space they own.
woah first sighting of an appian engineer on blind what’s good my dude
OP - There is no way to get around this. Show your ass up to work or quit.
You seem to comment on quite a few RTO posts with fairly obnoxious comments. How do your managers boots taste? You’re a shining example of in-office productivity and camaraderie with all the time you spend on here mocking others for their unhappiness with their current situation! Get back to work I’m sure your boss is waiting for another cleaning.
My God, you destroyed him.
Maybe they should relocate you to where your team is and do RTO
Can’t do that I have other family commitments in the area I’m working that prevent me from moving. And tbh I’m not for moving to a new location just because they want to switch up what they promised me upon hiring
OP, if it was truly promised to you, you should be eligible for a remote work arrangement, so get one.
Badge and executives have access to reporting through a “productivity tracker”. Basically reports the metrics captured through zoom and google calendar. How many meetings you attend, where you dialed in from (laptop vs conference room) duration, who attended, topics etc. They can run metrics for daily, weekly, monthly etc.
Don’t give ur company an easy reason to let you go
OP is trying hard
It’s definitely an unfortunate situation as they promised me one thing in the hiring process and are now saying something completely different. They’ve given me an easy reason to “let them go”. I overall liked everything else there, but I will not be pushed around by a CEO desperate for tax breaks. I’ve already started interview processes for other roles I’m just trying to weigh the options on whether or not I should job hop or stay.
