#hardware #interview #semiconductor #offers #designverification Qualcomm(IP DV, San Diego) Base: 125K RSU: 100K/3 Sign-on: 20K Relocation: 10K Cirrus Logic(Soc DV, Austin) Base: 125K RSU: 75K/3 Sign-on: 15K Relocation: 15K Masters + YOE 0 I need help deciding between the two choices. Which of the two roles have greater growth potential in terms of learning experience between Soc vs IP DV. Any inputs are welcomed šŸ™. Current TC - 0

Cirrus Logic

AMD Sir Deez Feb 16, 2023

Qualcomm for better life in general. SD is amazing. Thing about DV is that it's much easier to switch domain than it is for design or Arch roles. Don't stress about the growth at this point as you can switch around a lot in the DV field

AMD Sirappadi Feb 16, 2023

IP level is much better for learning I would say. SoC straight up takes you to the top level, don't know if that would be a better way if you're up for the challenge.

Intel intcdown Feb 16, 2023

Seems like Nvidia brand got you good tc

NVIDIA damnnnn Feb 16, 2023

Cirrus DV team is very good. Their socs are smaller and you would do both soc+ip .

NVIDIA verdi_boss OP Feb 17, 2023

Yes, but I would strickly be in Soc DV team. Any idea, how the refreshers are at Cirrus Logic?

Cirrus jfhfd1234 Feb 19, 2023

Refreshers happen if you have good performance. The DV team is pretty good here, and since the chips are smaller than Qualcomm, you will learn more by exploring all the aspects of the chip instead of a small section.

Qualcomm soe987yt1 Feb 16, 2023

If it comes down to pay, take the Cirrus offer. That salary won't go far in CA.

NVIDIA verdi_boss OP Feb 17, 2023

How are the refreshers at Qualcomm?

Qualcomm ekck21 Feb 19, 2023

Numbers are hazy in my memory but I think itā€™s 18-20k RSUs for engineers per year

Qualcomm mcduggnutt Feb 16, 2023

Pay wise cirrus looks better

Qualcomm home.sick Feb 17, 2023

IP DV is better profile with a lot of learning opportunities for new grad. SoC has a different skill set but it isn't for beginners.

NVIDIA verdi_boss OP Feb 18, 2023

But isn't Soc DV like generic DV ?

Qualcomm nMzB34 Feb 17, 2023

Since you are a fresh Graduate, You can try various domains in Qualcomm. You donā€™t have to stick to DV only. I have seen candidates who are utilizing this by trying various domains for every 6 months.
