Can someone suggest which position should I target for interviews? Recruiter told me that based on my experience I’ll be at L6 level and i have an option to interview for Front End focused role or general software engineer. The key difference is 2 system design rounds. In FE they will be focused more towards FE while general SDE would be distributed system design. I am currently a senior software engineer and good with JavaScript, React, Redux. I know basics of distributed system design but haven’t actually worked/built any micro service. So i need to prepare for both front-end as well as distributed system design. I have gone through Groking the system design. Can someone share what kind of questions are asked in FE system design loops? Any tips on resources? TC 230k YOE 11 #interviews #google #frontend #systemdesign #tech
YOE?
Did you end up with going through the FE interviews for L6? Were system design and coding FE focused? Thank you!
It is a lie. I interviewed for a L5 frontend position but none of my rounds were specific to frontend. I still got asked algo and data structure question, including DP. My system design round was just a regular distributed system question, not tailored for frontend. They want me to address one feature about Google own products.
Can you please help me with patterns of the question
None from leetcode. But as everyone suggested, the questions are around graph and DP. You are expected to drive the convo yourself - they will not even give function signature. You have to ask questions, clarify assumption and input on your own from the very beginning. Unless if you are stuck, you can ask for clue. For system design, it is about their own product. Think about how to sync data across devices and browser tabs. How to handle the consistency vs availability trade off, so ask clarifying questions from the beginning with interviewer
