I'm looking for data or peer-reviewed papers that show how many immigrants from India and China may be using consulting firms or unfairly gaming the immigration. The data with other nationalities included would be even better. I want to use this information to bring awareness and create momentum for immigration reform. I have connections in the government at the state level who are interested in doing what's best for our country, and want to bring changes to current system based on merit. And I'd like to have a productive conversation with them about this issue. I have colleagues from India and China who are highly qualified and well-paid, but they often face issues with travel, immigration, and other obstacles due to the backlog for green cards. I believe that these individuals, who are valuable members of my team, deserve to be American citizens and would be an asset to our nation. Can anyone here help me find the data and resources I need to make a case for immigration reform based on merit? Please Note: I am seeking reliable data and resources on immigration issues and want to avoid using information from hate groups that present themselves as legitimate sources. I recently stumbled upon the Center for Immigration Studies and FairUS, but discovered that they are run by anti-immigrant individuals with some wild theories. I am want to use reputable sources in my efforts to bring awareness and create momentum for immigration reform. Any help is highly appreciated! Links please if you have any. Update 1: few resources I found particularly supporting / making the case for removal of country caps. Just pasting here if anyone’s interested. 1. The Economic and Fiscal Consequences of Immigration" (National Academy of Sciences, 2017): This comprehensive report found that increasing the number of high-skilled immigrants, including those from India, could have large economic benefits for the United States, including increased innovation and productivity. https://www.nap.edu/catalog/23550/the-economic-and-fiscal-consequences-of-immigration 2. The Economic Benefits of Allowing More High-Skilled Immigrants into the United States" (Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, 2019): This report found that removing the country cap on employment-based green cards could lead to significant economic gains for the United States, including increased innovation, productivity, and GDP. The report also found that immigrants from India, in particular, have a strong track record of starting businesses in the United States. https://kenaninstitute.unc.edu/kenan-insight/why-america-needs-high-skilled-immigrants/ 3. The Economic and Social Contributions of Second-Generation Indians in the United States" (Partnership for a New American Economy, 2015): This report found that second-generation Indian immigrants in the United States have high levels of educational attainment and are more likely to start businesses than the general population. The report suggests that removing the country cap on employment-based green cards could allow more highly-skilled Indian immigrants to contribute to the U.S. economy. #immigration #greencard

It’d be great if you can be a bit more specific or just post the link here. No pressure tho.
If you access to the government, actually you could influence them to provide the actual data. I am minion on H1, all I have access to Murthy law firm and redbus.
I don't have an answer to your question but you can attract these kind of actors by creating a resume with an Indian name and experience from India. Upload it to dice, zip recruiters and other job listings and wait for calls. USCIS can grab this information instantly but I don't know why they are not doing it. 2 years ago they published top companies list which hired international students on OPT and number one was wireclass following by Amazon and Google, which is a small company with address of a small shop where all kinds of engineers worked. They blacklisted the company and I personally know a friend who got deported back to India. I myself am Indian and in the green card backlog. I don't see light at the end of the tunnel.
Sorry to hear about your friend. But please let’s keep it relevant to the question! I guess other companies are also black listed then? One thing is to figure out how much in percentage / nationality are doing this. Also need compare that to folks from other countries. Else it won’t make much difference imo
I don’t have the data but I’d look out for how many I-129s are filled each year per passport for H1B. And if I get my detective hat 🕵️♂️ then I’ll identify which firms are these and if they are subsidiaries of a bigger company. I wonder if there’s a helpline / Senator the citizens can call to retrieve this info. One case that I know of, a tiny company somewhere in New York had asked my friend to pay for H1B application from her pocket (non-tech). This is illegal but reporting is likely deporting for my friend. I wonder if there’s a way to capture these cases without impacting the individuals.
I happen to know a professor who has multiple employers, a university and another a hospital, and even 2 H1Bs. I believe it’s legal, and rightly so. He teaches at one and practices at another. So your approach might not be totally valid for all cases. Thanks though. Feel free to post any info you have 🙂
Simple. Compare H1B applications to unemployment rolls. You will find that companies applied for H1Bs anyway.
How’d you go about finding that? Can you share that with me? Feel free to DM! (I’d prefer it here since others can chime in) If you don’t mind of course, Thanks.
