I was looking at buying a Model Y Long Range, but $349/mo lease on Model 3 Standard Range (RWD) is hard to pass up. For reference, this is a comparable lease to that of a 27K Chevy Bolt! Whereas lease on Model Y LR is $629/mo (with similar down payments). What's the catch? A big downside to a Tesla lease is that I can't purchase the vehicle at the end of the lease, but are there any other gotchas I should be aware of? e.g. I see some stories of exorbitant wear charges at the end of the return. 272 mile range is also much shorter than what I want, and I know that they will announce an updated Model 3 this year.
I was considering the same options as you and decided to buy. The lease costs about $18k after 3 years. I calculated that if I buy the car and sell it after 3 years, I would pay a lot less than 18k when including the tax credit.
This, why folks forget that lease requires non refundable downpayment!
My Prius with a 12 gallon tank and ~42 miles / gallon (city, highway) gets me 500 miles
I'd only buy it for short commutes but that lease price sounds really good.
Buy a used gas car that works till 2030
I have tesla battery goes down if u have heavy load, lights on, ac on etc....
I was talking about the range. Numerous factors affect the range.
Lease model Y
My 2013 v4 accord gives me almost 400 highway miles for 5 working days. I drive 80 miles everyday. Considering to buy an SUV poasibly hybrid
If you charge at home, EVs give you 300 miles everyday
Lolif I get a gas full tank my car gives me 425 miles everyday.
I have a 3 Long Range, you'll never drive the full advertised 350, usually a full charge lasts me somewhere between the 280-300 range.
his 272 will end up being somewhere 180-220 range… and then you never want to drop below 30 so if 150 miles is ok, then i would go with standard.
The downside is that every once in awhile you will randomly crash into a fire truck.
272 is “much shorter” - how much range do you prefer?
Ideally 350+ (distance from Bay Area to LA, which is a trip I make often). I also hear real-world range is shorter than 272 Model 3 LR (358) would be great, but not sure how long I would have to wait for it to become available. But regardless, I am willing to get the standard range if I can get it for a lot less.
With an EV you’ll have to make a 15 minute stop on the way, which is not a big deal
