It seems like China is way ahead of the curve for e-commerce , payments, fulfillment, and in general implementing technology into their lives. Not saying they are technologically advanced, but compared to the US, the adoption of digital integration with smart homes, smart technology in general is higher. this could be in part driven by more urbanization, but we don't see the level in NYC nor SF. Is there some inherent cultural / environmental factor that facilitates this ? Discuss.
No, it's India... Cyber City
I bet you’ve never been to any cities in China. I’ve visited Mumbai and Bangalore for once and I’ve seen a their huge contrast with their Chinese counterpart like Shanghai and Shenzhen.
Yes, there's a huge contrast. Which is why it's India that's good.
It is easier for Chinese to adopt new technologies as 30 years ago there were literally nothing in this country. Not like in US if you were asking an old man to use smart phone to replace the credit card he has been using throughout his life he’ll have a fight with you.
Are you saying that the us is a victim of its own lobbyists due to how successful the innovations of the last century were ?
50 years later China will face the same problem, the habits that people have formed, the infrastructure that is hard to maintain or extend because of the increasingly high labor cost. Just imagine how hard it is for people to adopt new technologies in big companies, just the migration itself is curbing people from doing a lot of things that supposed to be done.
Chinese are obsessed with making quick💰. They are good with things that monetize. However their basic research is still behind so they won’t go far.
Yeah I recognize the lacking basic research, which is mentioned in the post. But tbh software technology(scalability, reliability, UX,..) has mostly been figure out, it's just applications that are elusive.
US isn’t built in a day, it might be too early to draw the conclusion now. We just haven’t lived long enough to witness the change they may progress on the front of basic research.
The Story of innovation in China is quite interesting. This article is from 2014, so it’s old. https://hbr.org/2014/03/why-china-cant-innovate 😂 🇺🇸 in not so many words it says, while the people of China have infinite potential and will, it is restrained by the political system that encompasses everyday life.
You are just so obsessed with the ideology and political system stuff and that way of thinking doesn’t help you understand the status quo of China at all. If you were really interested in the comparative study instead of just posting for proving your bigotry, I recommend you watching this interview which I believe is as objective as possible, as they went through a lot of in depth comparisons between western and China which is very interesting from many perspectives. https://youtu.be/ufxfSJgQuSI
I lived 2 months in China last year. Their technological innovation and adoption blew my fuckin mind away! They work hard and don't apologize for shit. You get tremendous Government support if you're willing to fall in the line. China will overpass US in next 20 years! Americans don't realize China's growth is on steroids and now they can never beat them! India can't beat China either cause manufacturing going to be automated soon and India missed their train with developing proper skill sets for their people. India will be a hub for software but China will rule the world soon!
Heck no. If you get too big too quickly some other competitor who bought off a CCP bureaucrat will shut you down faster than you can say "Free Taiwan!" Seriously - for Jack Ma to get his company as big as it did, can you imagine the amount of bribes he paid out, not to mention all the times he had to get on his knees to win favor with the CCP? Winnie the Pooh has proven he will lock you up if you publicly say bad things about him...
Everyone bribes, in China in US, everywhere. In US it is just called lobbying.. Look, if you are afraid of making enemies then you should not start a business as simple as.
Every four years, US election costs billions of dollars for running the campaigns, and you really think that money is spent on freedom and democracy? Such an American idiotic hypocrisy.
Are you an india hater? Why do you bring india to all posts.
No, gov backed companies will just steal your idea and market.
China: I have tiktok American: we have vine first! Even though vine is like shit, You copied us! China: I have wechat pay everywhere! American: we have paypal first! Even though you still need cash to live in San Jose. You copied us! China: We have electric trucks! American: We have Tesla! Even though all garbage trucks in palo alto are made in China. You stole from us!
