Democratic Socialists stand for issues like: 1. Progressive taxes on rich individuals and corporations (for example, many believe that all money made in excess of 400k per year by any entity should be taxed at 50%). The numbers may vary, but the key concept of increasing taxes progressively to raise revenue remains. 2. Investing in public transit, child care, retirement homes and other facilities to an equal or greater degree than Europe. 3. Creating federal jobs that are intended to fight or mitigate climate change, pandemics and other natural disasters. This will simultaneously improve the nations resilience, and improve the minimum wage by ensuring all workers have access to well paying government jobs if they want it. An example of a Democratic Socialist is Bernie Sanders. Do you identify with Democratic Socialism?
They tax and spend like no tomorrow.
Bernie is a full-blown communist. "Democratic socialist" is just more palpable for the useful idiots to get on board.
I got news for ya: if you live in California then you already pay a marginal tax rate close to 50% if you make more than $400k. The Democratic Socialists still think such people are not paying their "fair share."
Bernie owns 5 houses now and his wife defrauded a college. AOC is attending $30K fundraiser dinners in designer dressers. Pelosi and her husband are colluding on insider trading deals. This "fair share" talk is just a cheap talking point every election cycle.
Sanders has 3 houses: 1 in DC where he, uh, works. 1 in Vermont (where he's from) and some lake cabin he inherited. He's one of the least wealthy senators with a net worth around $2 million. Gimme a break.
Iām fully supportive of 1 as long as the loopholes are closed. Iām tired of seeing taxing on w2 while rich escape the through inheritance, capital gains and asset depreciation loopholes. I doubt the Democratic socialists can achieve it. Next up, public transportation and child care support are pretty good agenda, but at what cost? Iām not with those who think the world would be poverty free if they can print enough money. And the last, why āfederalā, though I support the cause. It can be done by the private company too. In all three, I am aligned on the cause but skeptical of the implementation plans.
I support a lot of these policies. I have zero faith that the federal government or the progressive Dems can deliver.
On all of these the devil s in the details. #2 for example I agree with, but for tax break for having kids, have a working requirement (Manchins idea), otherwise $$ will go to buy alocohol. #1 has been true in the US for as far as Ive been here, independent of party in power, so not sure how this is a democratic socialist agenda. #3, sorry but this is very far down my list of needs. If bernie could have his way hr would cap all wealth at 50M and give the rest to the people. That sounds cool... except history has tried that... and failed.
Pelosi would never allow any wealth taxes, she just made $50 Million in the last year on insider trading deals.

This is literally NOT progressives dem agenda. If a vote was held today the progressivr caucus would vote no on $$ for roads, bridges, public transit, clean drinking water and high speed internet.
