Cost of movers
I’m moving a lightly finished 1 bedroom apartment worth of stuff in Seattle to a new apartment building that’s literally 5 minutes away. The movers have quoted $720 😬 4 hour minimum at $180 per hour. Seems steep. Is that pretty standard for Seattle? *************************** Edit for future reference: I ended up using TaskRabbit. $110 per hour for a guy with a sprinter van and the two of us will tag team the move. No minimum duration.
I've had better rates on task rabbit. But it was just one guy and I helped him move my stuff
I’ve used and loved task rabbit, you can just book multiple taskers for the same time. I didn’t help move anything. They can each bring their own truck to reduce the moving time and they help each other!

Did you search around? Many movers offer $120-$130 per hour for 2 people one truck. If you rent and drive a truck yourself, you can even get cheaper movers from Uhaul for around $80-90/hour.

5 minutes away or 30 minutes away doesn't matter much. It's the loading and unloading time that counts and is most time consuming. I paid 850 plus tip when I moved a 1-bedroom apartment in 2020 and that was without a truck. They bought their own plastic wraps though. It's worth the money to get it done quickly. So 720 is a deal in 2022
