A few years into ERP bIz dev/sales. Debating on next step. Stick with ERP? Move to a data company--Datadog/Snowflake? Try to get into security--Zscaler/Crowdstrike? ERP is pretty dry and "projects" are massive endeavors few and far between. I'm new business sales so opportunities are limited. From a personal standpoint, I lack IT/Software knowledge. Early mid career, 32 years old so time to get better. In order to get into a different space, I would want to be at least somewhat knowledgeable about product I am selling and also build credentials to even apply for jobs. Are Google certificates worth anything? Saw a "Google Cybersecurity Specialist" cert i could get within 6 months for a few hundred--worth it or waste of time? Any that you would recommend? Ultimate goals are AE job with 125k+ base and 200k+ TC with an opportunity to consistently hit quota in large part to being a part of a hot industry or product--ride the wave mentiality. Current job feels like more of an internal sales game, where territory defines success. I like the company and people but that doesn't pay the bills. Thoughts and opinions welcome.
Go to a data company(databricks/snowflake), observability(datadog/new relic/splunk/grafana) or a cloud company(aws/azure/gcp). I am not in sales or bizdev, but from a solutions architect persoective they are all infinitely more exciting with better talent and money than anything related to ERP.
