I've cleared the interview loops for Uber, yet to receive the comp details. The team I interviewed for is hiring for a role that's a mix of SWE backend and Data engineering. The official title is SWE but the split is somewhat 70 for data eng and 30 for backend in day to day tasks. I don't have any data eng experience but the manager and sr.sde mentioned the work is related to big data pipelining, creating automations to move TBs of data from one place to other, create tools to fetch & populate data, Analyse the data based on some 200 factors etc. I am not enjoying the work in my current team so want to switch for sure, if not external then internal most likely. Need thoughts on should i switch to a role that's a mix of data eng and backend? How's the DE work? is it interesting? the recruiter also mentioned that there's an option to reject the current team and find another but I am afraid that in this hiring scenario, there might not be lot of open roles so should i take the risk of rejecting the team? Bro how much they are offering for SDE 2 ? If you ask my opinion about the DE, if the team is good, go for it. Because almost all the teams are mix of FE + BE or DE + BE, as you can always switch the team after 1 yr if you don’t like it
Hey how was your interview experience with them? I have scheduled interview with Uber. Any tips or suggestion?
How long did they take to get back to you after your onsite interview

The engineering side of DE scope is basically SWE work. Ensure that: 1. The scope is going to be on the engineering side than the analytical side of DE scope. 2. The scope is not just building data pipelines using some existing framework, but rather building the infrastructure, systems, tools that can be utilized to build those data pipelines. 3. The designation is SWE (sometimes it can affect how outside recruiters perceive your previous experience).
1. the sr. sde from the team mentioned that the analytical side is done by some other team and we just populate the data in some data source for them to read in a meaningful way. 2. not sure abut this 3. yes the designation is SWE, i confirmed that with the recruiter.
