Have a friend asking for career advice and is graduating a coding bootcamp soon. How is being a software engineer at value companies like: Exxon, Johnson & Johnson, Proctor & Gamble, CVS, John Deere, Honeywell, etc… for job security?
Get ready for a huge paycut if you're serious about j&j, I'm interviewing with finance to leave TC: 85k YOE: 1.5
Not stable at ExxonMobil at all for software engineers. The company has laid off or pushed out at least 25% of it's software engineers in the last 3 yrs. And is in the process of transferring as much work as possible to managed service providers as fast as it can so they can lay off the rest. All this means that the future is not at all stable for Software Engineers at least at Exxon.
