Best dolby atmos home theatre with 5.1.4 surround channel

Which is the best home theatre system that supports dolby atmos. I saw a Klipsch reference system at costco for $600. Very tempting but the AV receiver to support it costs over $1400. Is there a budget friendly one ? Also how are the atmos soundbars like Sonos arc and Bose soundbar 900? I have a soundtouch 300 with woofer and satellite speakers in my living room and am happy. Planning to setup my media room and appreciate some tips Blind tax: Cur TV $320k, L6,13yoe New tc: $380k #sonos #bosecorporation #yamaha #onkyo #klipsch #denon

I have Sonos ARC + Sub wooffer + 2 play one setup .. it’s awesome ..

lol. Apple is unironically recommending that you buy a soundbar. figures

We have the Sonos Arc + Sub and they are great. Use them with out Apple TV. Unfortunately most TVs will try yo process the audio and add a lip sync issue. You will need to verify your TV can do pass through bitstream audio.

Get the Sonos 5.1 set up if you can afford....I have two sets in our house, lip sync is not a problem (Vizio and TCL tvs)

Which model?

Best and budget friendly don’t go together when it comes to quality audio.

Which is the top of the line? I can shell out $1k for speakers alone and another $1k for receiver. Bose soundbar 900 and woofer is costing me $1k with employee discount

Nothing will be top of the line at that price point.

I just visited bestbuy to try out the B&W's 603 tower speakers. That's a beauty. Planning to get one. Looks like more money = better sound quality. Just that the AV receiver is another $1.5k The klipsch with 5.1.4 setup at costco was sounding really bad. Bestbuy is sending a consultant to get measurements for my media room.

Hi OP , at Best Buy do they have special area or room to test this audio system ? As Costco generally keep all in open and no one care there to show the setup with all kind of settings

Amazon pieandpie OP Feb 13, 2022

Yea, check for "Magnolia" showrooms. The one I went had 5.1 configurations for different brands. I tested out the B&W M1 in 5.1 setup and a combination of their 603S tower speakers(Front) with 3 M1 speakers for (center and surround). I was really blown away by the crisp sound notes from the tower speakers. The atmos wasnt like how I wanted it to be. I may skip the inceiling speakers for the atmos and settle with a cheaper denon 5.1 ch receiver. I also checked the 4k projectors from sony and epson. Pretty expensive but too good. The epson makes only 92" for the screen. So users might be better off buying an 85" TV

I don't care that much for 5.1.4 but I still feel that the Sony STR-DH790 7.2 is pretty hard to beat at $470 .. beyond that I'd much rather spend money on decent speakers .. while I love klipsch in general, $600 isn't going to cut it for bass imho .. My sub woofer alone is well over 600 (Assuming you don't have neighbors to worry about..)

Agree, I have a full bose soundtouch 300 with bass and satellite speakers. It's pretty good. But it doesnt offer a real 5.1 surround compared to the discrete speakers that I tested.

I am the OP. I finally ended up with the following Setup: 5.1.2 AVR: Denon x2700h 95w, 2ch driven Center channel: Bowers HTM6 S2 Front L/R: Bowers 606 S2 Surround L/R: Bowers 607 S2 Atmos upfiring: Klipsch reference Sub Woofer: Bowers ASW608 Display: 75" Sony X90J Total Budget: $5500+ taxes I feel the 75" TV seems too small and am contemplating to get a projector. The sound is pretty awesome and highs are pretty perfect. Vocals are good after some tune up. Atmos may be an over hyped tech. I dont feel any difference with my up firing speakers. May be i need to do some fine tuning to get the true atmos effect. There are other unheard brands which offer good quality speakers compared to klipsch. Recently saw a post on slickdeals about a brand called triangle Borea which had rave reviews. Gets you a full package for $1200. If I hadn't purchased mine, I would have definitely tried this brand.

Yeah upfiring is very hit or miss. You ll likely do much better with a set of cheap downfiring atmos speakers. I use polk owm3

I have ELAC Carinas in my 3.1 system # they're awesome too. Also, don't forget to play with speaker placements and room acoustic treatments....they make huge difference!
