Did anybody with 5 yrs of experience in IT services ( TCS, HCL likes..) has a chance at PM roles of good tech companies?
How about switch from faang to witch?
I came from PayPal to Apple recently. I would say keep interviewing, you never know.
came to US on witch as SE now at faang as EM ... in 6 years
Can someone explain WITCH without trolling?
Apparently, it’s an acronym representing some Indian companies. At least that’s how I got it.
Indian body shops, closest thing to prostitution in the SE industry. Basically company X wants to implement project A but don’t want to setup an internal team so it asks for bidders to do the project within a timeframe. 2 companies bid $1M to do the project. Now a WITCH company comes in and says ‘hold my beer we will do it for 500k’. The other bidders faint and company X happily accepts. Now WITCH uses it’s folks from tech saturated India to work at 1/5 the costs (and usually about 1/3 the quality) to get the project done. The project is done and everyone is happy. WITCH goes on a new project witchhunt. Meanwhile after 1 month this project burns to the ground due to poor quality and either company X works with WITCH to get more man hours to fix it or pay the other guys $1M to redo the whole damn thing. And thats WITCH in a nutshell
Wow! I can relate so much..
Does WITCH even have a product manager role? I guess, for having a PM role, you need to have some products. I am not aware of any service company building products. If the service companies don't have PM roles, then your question should be more about switching from non-PM role to PM role (FAANG or otherwise). Once you switch to a PM role, then getting into FAANG should be relatively easy. Otherwise it will be almost impossible.
That's a good point. HCL don't have PM roles but we almost always work for clients and I am working in Product owner role since 2 years. From PO to a PM role in a product company is what I really want now. I have been applying from less known startups to established brands, however no call back What am i doing wrong?
Product owner =! Product manager
FANG term was coined by walstreet for its stock growth. When do you dumbfucks get it. WITCH seriously?
Who says we don’t know that already? Dumb fuck
If only Wipro was called Bipro this would be so appropriate. In short, these B I T C H companies are converting critical thinkers and engineers into third rated support staff who survive by solving problems the fastest way that bring even more bugs in the system. These companies have created hierarchies with d u m b managers who micro manage employees and only survive by pleasing their bosses’ behinds. Run away from these companies as fast as you can!!
Bongs already do that
Stay tf away
