No assigned seating for forced RTO? No thanks, you are now my interview practice company. Glad Bloomberg still has assigned seating while the rest of the tech industry tries to force employees back to the office while saving on real estate this way.
Thats how the Lowes "tech hub" is. The CTO loves it and loves seeing the "collaboration" as she walks to her private office.
I used to have my own full cubicle as an intern 8 years ago at my first company. My friends at Microsoft had their own full office as junior engineers back in the day. Things changed very fast.
I recommend calling her out on her BS in a way that is visible to her in some way. These hypocrites need to feel shame for garbage like this. Asking anonymously in a QandA session why she feels this is a good set up when she has her own private office. Or a social media board for your alls work that you know she goes on.
Happens in GS. Pretty shitty.
Google wants to be Tesla so bad
In what way lmao
RTO with no place to sit and park lol
Not engineering.
I kind of like it. For my group (Im a director) we put dual monitors everywhere and kitted our base setup. Some still bring their own mech keyboards but its overall great
You trolling right? Right...?
Yeah you like it because you're a fucking director and spend your whole day in specially reserved leadership conference rooms.
I'll take old style cubicles over these open layouts any day. They provide better concentration and collaboration in every way.
Wait, where does the monitor go?
They replace all the good monitors with dual shittie low res ones! Enjoy, plebian engineers.
Don’t know where this is happening. People who got fully remote approved 6+ months ago are still remote now. Don’t know a soul being told “nah you have to RTO”. The rest who have been hybrid have had assigned seats.
This is for the new NYC office building. They have 14k employees in NYC. I know the Seattle office buildings have been lying empty, that's a different story.
Oh yeah not entirely sure what the new building is for or who’s even assigned to it. It was planned and in construction since 2019 pre pandemic. Gonna give it a visit some time soon but none of us even know why it was planned to be built. Especially since headcount in NYC has actually shrunk over time thanks to layoffs.
We are getting there also at Amazon
I worked in a place that did this, and I can assure you all, it is miserable.
