My toddlers homebased daycare is closed for a week now or probably more to come. We already paid a full month fee. Is it right to ask for a refund? Do private schools give a fee refund for closing so many weeks?
Do you really need the refund or is it better to let them pay salaries to the staff?
If now the parents have to hire a nanny to take care of the kids, so they can WFH, then yes it's a valid request.
If someone earns 300k+ tech salary sure not a big deal 1.5-3k/month. But if the person earns 80k-150k, daycare fees mean a lot. I think it's a relevant question
Parents most likely need to hire a nanny now so they can WFH, so it does make sense to ask for refund instead of paying double the amount. But it's very likely that the answer would be no.
My son’s school did not closed. Because based on the instruction, daycare is “essential business “. So right after I know we suppose “shelter in place” , we decided do not go to school anymore. And I called school to withdraw. Right now my husband and I taking turns to use our leave. Luckily he will go to k in public school next school year. We won’t go to the previous school again. It might be not to late to withdraw the school. If things goes better, we will send him to a summer camp
My kiddo’s day care is not charging us
My kids daycare is charging us and they are closed for solid 2 weeks. I think what they should do is at least refund a portion of it that goes in as variable cost i.e. food, diapers etc. That much should be passed back to the parents. They can keep the amount enough to cover the salaries.
Are you willing to take a pay cut for wfh? If not, let daycare employees get paid!
That's a flawed argument. WFH still requires you to be productive at 100%. So, you are still providing full service to your customer. If you personally can't be productive then report your inefficiency for a pay cut. Daycare employees are not providing any service. However, I understand their plight and therefore, the daycare centres should at least refund the variable cost of running the centres i.e. food, diapers etc.
Yes I agree ok variable cost. The general consensus is not being 100% productive, and this has been the reason for exceeds rating for everyone at fb and similar concerns being discussed st other companies
The daycare owners and to some extent the employees will benefit from the relief packages federal government have announced. However, we the parents who work for non essential services have already lost few thousands dollars in these daycares or so called pre schools and some are going through financial crisis or job losses. The aid some us will received will be nullified by these unrecovered tuition expenses. This is utterly nonsense and unjustified. Ca we appeal to consumer forum or some other government bodies where our voices can be heard?
We still need our salaries if there is a lockdown. So I am afraid the answer is No.
^^This^^
I disagree. You're locked down but working. Daycares aren't working.
