Received a verbal offer for a Director of Recruiting role but then got an email in 2 hours that they have decided to move forward with another candidate. Their VP of People is a really really incompetent person and doesn't care about candidate experience . Stay away.
So they pulled a joke on basically lolz
Over the weekend someone on blind asked if it's okay to renege an offer acceptance to take another job. I responded if enough people do that, companies will start extending offers to multiple candidates and renege the extras if their preferred candidate accepts. I guess we deserve shit like this for our sins during the hay days of high TC.
I know in 2021 many companies reneged on accepted offers. Etiquette has changed and worker needs to look out
Society needs legislation to force the adoption of the following conditions to restore trust between employee and employer: 1. Employers who withdraw written offers must compensate the candidate the max(new 2 month TC, old 2 month TC, legislative minimum of $10,000) 2. Employers are entitled to withold 40 hours of pay from the last paycheck of employees who do not provide 2 weeks notice of departure. 3. Employers offering new candidates a job must give at least 10 days decision time for the candidate to accept the offer.
I've had this happen twice in my life. 1st time the idiots ghosted me when I kept asking for clarification. 2nd time I was ghosted for a month, then called back and told they had another position that would be even better for me at the same level just opening up, then ghosted again for a month after which they sent an email they're moving forward with another candidate and ghosted again when I asked for clarification. Don't look back - incompetent people at companies with bad work culture. I heard stories of that second company from a now coworker who used to work there....
Heard the same thing at many places, verbal offer isn't worth anything
