What am I missing? Novo Nordisk is now Europe’s biggest company but I think it’s still too small. Is this stock going to still go way up again? They’ve basically found a cure for all addiction. Weight loss, alcoholism, quitting smoking, quitting opiate addiction, quitting cocaine addiction, gambling addiction, consumer spending addiction, etc. And it has virtually no downside. The only thing I can think of is someone might come out with a better drug, and their patent won’t last forever.
There is a better drug already, Mounjaro. Just not yet approved for weight loss.
Ozempic® is not FDA approved for weight loss or chronic weight management. At this time, Novo Nordisk has not conducted studies to evaluate the effect on weight after discontinuation of Ozempic®. https://www.ozempic.com/faqs.html
Ozempic is just one brand name for Semaglutide. The higher dose version of it branded as Wegovy is indeed FDA approved for weight loss
Also it's effective for Type 1 diabetes. Pending approval and if that happens, it's a game changer.
Valuing a pharma company is very hard, as you have to account for competitors and patent exclusivity expiring. It looks like it’s still a good buy but I would just caveat it with those risks
Main nasty side effect of all these GLP-1 agonists appears to be potential gastroparesis - paralyzed stomach. Mild case makes you feel sick / nauseous/ bloated, but a severe case prevents food from moving onward and you vomit everything up. Gastroparesis doesn’t have a cure, so generally treatment is to wait and see if it resolves in its own. But if it doesn’t, it’s a pretty terrible condition to live with and results in a feeding tube like 30% of the time (according to Dr Google lol) Clearly a game changer for some, but that’s a pretty big - albeit rare - potential downside. https://www.drugwatch.com/legal/ozempic-lawsuit/
Yeah a girl I was dating many years ago randomly developed it. It was pretty horrible, she had to follow a restricted diet and even still, would just get nauseous and have to throw up somewhat randomly but many times a week.
Today i took my first dose of semiglutide . Its very very effective. No hunger pangs, suger inside 120( normally goes around 190-200 after meal) . Looks to good tobe true
I am on ozempic for past 3 years. Controlled diabetes really well and I lost 20 pounds. Went from 195 to 175
Semaglutide can cause cancer in the pancreas or thyroid. If you have family history of either type you should not take it. My PCP informed me of this and is the reason why I didn’t take it. Also it does not mater which dosage regime you take, any of them can cause the cancer.
There is no evidence that supports this, there was one instance of pancreatic cancer in a large research study looking into this. Google - “Semaglutide and cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis”, to learn more. So your PCP sounds like a quack and is making shit up, drop them
"And it has virtually no downside" That is not true. The long term harmful side effects are unknown. People do report trouble with this medication.

"People aren't fooled"
Haven't read anything in depth, is this serious? It works on addictions, not only to satiate food cravings?
Yeah it does https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2023/05/ozempic-addictive-behavior-drinking-smoking/674098/
Well we should bet that they'll get the Nobel prize then.
