There is hope! Thank you good people at Blind!
Last week, I was put on performance project by manager and told me I have 4 weeks. I found out there is no grace period for h1s at Uber. I felt like that's it, the end! I had to pack up and go back India! Feeling totally hopeless, I asked for help here!
Surprisingly, God's grace was upon us, so many of you reached out! All good people! All graceful! Asked for my resume, made introductions to hiring managers, made internal referrals and what not!
Those of you, never knew me and but felt my suffering and pain and reached out. Thank you, sir! All of you! I can't mention your names because this is anonymous but I can mention you companies!
Thank you sir from Amazon directly putting my name into hiring event and another hiring manager just called me and said waiving phone screen, just said come for onsite. Thank you sir from Square, Airbnb, Dropbox! Thank you Googler friends, few of you reached out. Thank you my indian friends from FB and Microsoft putting in my resume! Thank you the lady from Stripe. Thank you that project manager from Lyft! LinkedIn friends thank you as well. Tablau engineer, I sincerely thank you! Friend from Apple iTunes group and indian friend from Internet Services and another recruiter from Apple Maps! Snap chat recruiter, thank you reaching out as well! IIT alumni from Netflix, thank you too!
Thank you! Thank you!
I have laid out multiple phone screens this week.
I am doing the needful for my performance project and preparing for the coding interviews. I am hopeful that I will go through this and have some peace.
My former manager from paypal invited me to his house today, gave me a lecture about life. I feel like sharing. He said I was passed out of IIT and up for any challenge in life but I have to set my priorities right. First, health, then my family, then peace of mind and happines and the money should come last. He said do one thing don't be greedy! Today it will be Uber tomorrow there will be always some other company enticing greedy people like me. If I fell into it now but shouldn't tomorrow. He asked how much money at the stake. I told him 8000 RSUs. He asked how much does it worth? I said $384k. He said is this money??? Not even a million? Does it worth to take this hassle everyday taking caltrain all the way to sf and back. He told me you are just 27, do not position yourself for money, but for personal happines and growth and learning, money will just follow, money is just a by product in your career. Like that only. Asked me to come back, work for him a year and he'll help me to get a job at first-class companies like google!
One thing that bothers me. I made a bad choice and my wife and 2 years old daughter suffered! I wasn't feeling like playing with my daugter and pushing her away when I came home tried and she was looking forward for me all day. I felt very ashamed myself that I neglected my family for a fistful dollars. I hope they will forgive me!
If you had to make a choice between Uber and your family, look at your kids eyes, look again, because they are the ones will be suffering thr most. Bad things happening at office will change you and they will be puzzled why daddy is not playing with me if daddy doesn't love me anymore. I realized the priorities in life. That's the only thing I learned through Uber.
Thanks for reading! All good people in Blind!
Let be God's grace upon you!
I love you!

I had to go india because my visa is invalidated. I had to restamp. I had to pay tickets for all my family $1800 by 4!
Pay my flight tickets first!
HR knew this and told me on exit interview and now Travis is helping out affected drivers? What a lie!

I am with your former manager! Set your priorities, right! You are a family man! Not a brogrammer! To be honest, $300,000 is not huge amount to take this shit. Any company in the valley can pay you that much RSUs. Google L4s are getting $600k and it's real money. Not a piece of paper! Even 2019 IPO is not a case anymore because of Trump and you can't sell one more year after IPO, best case, 2021. And you get what? If but big iff 2x! Doesn't worth it!
If you set your trajectory right, you can be a director at Google. 5 years is a long time. I'ce seen people moving all the way up within such time! Take this as a learning experience! It's only valuable as such!
