Hello Everyone, I’m currently based in New Jersey and working with RCI and will soon be joining Amazon as a Bunsiess Analyst 2. I was wondering if joining remotely from NJ until October/November would affect my bonus and paychecks as NJ has state tax vs Washington is Tax free state. Will I be taxed where my employer is situated or where I reside or both? Has anyone been in a similar situation? Amazon Business Analyst 2: L5 TC: 135k Thanks in advance! #cpa #irs #tax
You get taxed based on where you live and not where you work.
You get taxed where you live.
Not true.. you will be taxed for both states. While filing return next year you can claim credit for one state tax towards other to avoid double taxes. Your CPA might be able to help with that.
Capgemini is totally wrong. When you work remote, your employer will set you up as "Remote Employee" with work location and home location as your home address in whichever state you are and you only pay tax of that one state and if your state has no taxes, you pay nothing.
