Capital One vs MITRE?

I'm going crazy at Capital One - biannual stack ranking, work is all maintenance. Haven't written any actual code in 6 months and there's so much red tape to do anything. I spend a solid two months out of the year stressed AF about stack ranking and the rest of my time remediating vulns and editing YAML. I've got a friend who works at MITRE and he keeps trying to convince me to jump ship. Apparently everything in his org (MITRE Labs?) is prototype work and there's a lot of opportunities to work on smaller projects with actual ownership and weirdly enough less red tape. He actually writes code every day. The benefits are very similar but pay is lower at MITRE. I checked their Glassdoor and everybody fucking hates their CEO, but vs a biannual 10% PIP I'll might take it Worth it? My (Capital One) TC: 120k Richmond, 2 YOE Friend's (MITRE) TC: 106k Tyson's, 3 YOE

MIC companies usually have good job security and interesting R&D so I'd say take it for the peace of mind (minus the whole potentially developing death machines thing but that's just America)

Have you looked at internal transfer? Hard to imagine you can't find teams who actually write code. Even TDPs on our team write code everyday that ends up in production. Although afaik our team doesn't have any open positions below PA

Every good team I've heard of doesn't have positions under PA.
