Accenture layoffs have started!

Heard from 2 colleagues in Australia today that Accenture Technology are offering redundancy to those with poor chargeability, no matter how good they are… quite a few impacted by the sounds of it and some really good CL7/8/9s affected. # Are we hearing similar in other regions?

If they’re good wouldn’t they have good chargeability with few exceptions?

Having good Chargeability/Utilization is a function of you being staffed on a billable project/engagement/study, number of hours you charge to the client of that project, how little time you are on the bench/beach… Prerequisite is that the Partners/MD/Snr. Exec’s / etc. need to be closing on billable projects they are selling to new & existing clients…..so they can staff bodies per the SOW.. Many factors at play than being “good” Source = “Trust me bro”

Unfortunately this is what being a consultant is like. You can be extremely good at systems design but the project they sold this year might all be implementation project that don’t involve much systems design. It’s based on market demand and if you’re not needed much, however good you are, you’re not gonna be placed on projects. Chargeability is not about how good you are but how flexible you are that you’re able to juggle many things. If you want hyperspecialization, go with tech or finance.

Australia is a small market. If you’re in a niche area or industry, you can end up benched for long periods. I used to manage some consultants who were absolute guns in their specialism but couldn’t get consistently good chargeability due to project and client limitations.

There are practically no roles for L11 software devs in the US . I thankfully already have another offer and I’m jumping ship but yeah I have a sneaking suspicion that layoffs are coming due to the amount of unstaffed ppl

I'm a ng L11 with a start date in Feb 23. Think it will be rescinded?
