as meta announced rto, if majority of your team are onsite with your boss and you work remote, you either work 996 to prove you are productive, or you 400k tc job will be gone. god bless you all
What's 996?
9am to 9pm, 6 days a week
Doesn’t sound healthy. Pro-tip: Become an expert in a niche discipline and companies will beg you to work for them from wherever you’re located.
You basically have to work the same hours. The difference is that you work while others commute. But then you get flexibility of living anywhere, so there is that.
if you have any work realted question onsite: just turn the chair you got help remote: hi xxx could you please help with with blah blah blah and then you have to wait 2 hours after lunch break to get reply "may be i look at it tmr"
I wish life was as simple as you speak my dear Amazon friend. I’ve seen remote workers get forgotten at times when most people in office. One time they forgot to invite a remote worker to the retro meeting.
when will employee know they are strong in numbers.. if majority stand up against return to office, employer will have to cave in... but no, most employees dont comprehend the power they have over their boss/job if they collaborate and combine ....
It’s way too risky, a lot of employees are on visa’s. These recent layoffs show the employers do not care about employees. They’d gladly want people to quit, no severance and hire the others who are struggling to land jobs right now and would gladly return to office for that TC.
Don't have the numbers. Majority prefer RTO.
No, you don't. You do have to take steps to make sure your work is visible and avoid relying on the usual workplace chitchat, but don't need to work more time for that.
did you rto or not, if not andy will fire you soon
$800k and remote, works well for me.
goddamn peter pan
Meta announced RTO for their non-remote workers only.
This!
And city officials who need that tax revenue.
Can’t agree more, you need to be really rock star to be successful in remote. I thought meta fired a lot more remote employees in previous layoffs.
I’ve been working remotely basically since forever and it’s not that hard, unless you’re the only one remote in your team. If the entire team is working remotely it can be really easy and more productive than RTO.
Also working hard while WFH is easy. Oh I need to deliver? Sure glad I’m not stuck in traffic, I can just get up and get to it.
