Noticed that Senior Director + barely make it 2 years. Most hit 1 year and then they leave. Are they getting fired? Seeing this especially in PM. Had one convo about a group PM role and this is really concerning
So are these execs being fired or just quitting themselves? Also I saw that Elena Vora woman (the growth YouTuber?) is now head of growth. That’s a good sign, right…?
Dropbox has a lot of cash so they can pay for big names in an attempt to claw back into relevancy. It isn’t a “good sign” tbh, it’s nothing new. She’ll come up with some growth idea, a new product, they’ll spend 1-2 years on it, it’ll fail and then she’ll quit for the next exec to step in.
Figma xzxzxx, did you work at Dropbox? Well said! It is exactly what is happening at DBX
Dropbox is the tech-equivalent of the banana republic that stumbled upon on an oil field ~15 yrs ago. Since then a parade of often well-qualified execs have desperately sought the company's second act. But the dictator gives 'em a single swing at bat after which the company drops the initiative and pivots to the latest & greatest hot thing. The result is some pretty hefty politics, back stabbing, and kremlinology to figure out who or what currently holds favor. At some level, it's the CEO's fault. However, even if Elon / Steve Jobs / Satya were CEO, it's not obvious what or where Dropbox should go next.
Lmao this is the best description I’ve heard of management culture at Dropbox. So accurate.
