2 things 1. I suspect we will have a 2nd slowdown or an actual recession coming up 2. I see tons of Meta offers at very high TC here Therefore, are they overhiring again ahead of a slowdown? And will that lead to another round of layoffs? Context : I might end up being one of the victims TC : 390
I do not see Meta hiring, could be observer bias. LinkedIn insights show 236 hires in August, vs. 3000-6000 at peak.
Whats your meta offer?
Because stock is near all time high. It’s simple as that. Basically a discount for them. Same reason for 2021 hiring spree
Can someone explain how is that a discount for them? Excuse the dumbness
No dumb question, my friend. ATH stocks mean for X offer, Meta give out less stocks thus less pie crumbs lost out of the whole pie (their total value).
Are they hiring freshers 2023 grad too?
No one answers. No high TC buddy cares. And the answer is no.
@Uber your reply gave me a headache, figures
Are they stupid enough to waste so much on severance pay???
Severance isn’t by law, so they could give nothing if things get bad enough.
It is by the law and depends on the state you live. For California its 2 months minimum if you do mass layoff.
American companies are kinda dumb tbh, good quarter = omg double the workforce, bad quarter = omg layoffs
Then go work for an Indian company
I'm not Indian
Meta is slowly returning to the office.
That doesn’t make much sense to me. Why would they hire if slowdown is coming? Layoff is always the last resort that kills morale. They should try to avoid it. Am I missing anything?
I think the trend of over-hiring followed by layoffs is going to be common in software from now on. Companies saw no negative consequences for the layoffs. Salaries are down, stock prices are up. You can bet they’ll do this again and again.
Lot of companies like ibm, cisco, orcl pioneered this. Infact they do layoffs every year but silently and they're careful enough to not incite warn. Now the new age companies are realizing that they can do this too. They offer rsus for 4 years which mean shit if they can lay you off in few months.
It's the slowdown throwdown
Who cares? Bag the money while you can
Do you want to change job every month?
Yes, if i get 2 months of paid vacation after every job change
