Hoping that the job market improves significantly after holidays. What do you think? I think a lot of hiring managers are in analysis paralysis now caused by a large number of qualified applicants and this has caused an artificial bottleneck much like a traffic jam. Let’s say there are 10 extremely hirable applicants but because there are no offers all the candidates are still applying to all the jobs. So 100 HMs are holding on to the same 10 candidates. Hopefully year end forces them to make offers and this will make the highly qualified candidates leave the job market and the next batch of applicants to be smaller etc..
I sure hope so. I'm thinking of quitting soon without anything lined up. I can stretch my savings for 2 years but would rather not if I could help it. I'm not even asking for much, just at least 160k liquid to cover expenses and have some savings which should be doable living in a HCOL city.
Its certainly possible. The biggest question is how much they'll cut interest rates next year. That would help a lot, but the effect probably won't really be felt until 2025 or later. Also depends on whether the AI/LLM boom really has legs and can continue. So far its only had modest effect on the job market overall.
LOL did you guys not see the earning last week, every big tech in the earning call basically said their recruiting budget is zero for 2024
But meta is hiring recruiters again
did see a post about msft hiring contract recruiters as well
It’s going to be bad
It has gotten better later this year compared to the start of the year. I’ll say it’s going to be better.
Should’ve been a poll. Worse
Made a poll
Not so optimistic. People said in 2022 that everything would be back to normal in mid 2023.
Supposedly it’s improved somewhat
"Higher for longer"
