Is it true that they demand reference from the immediate previous manager? How do they go about verifying this? What is their mode of interaction with the reference provider? Email? Phone? Zoom meeting? The idea of demanding a reference from immediate manager seems very outdated to me.
No not true. I didn’t get it from immediate manager
Not necessarily immediate manager but I’ve heard from immediate company. They scheduled 30 minute calls with all of my references and actually spoke to them for 30 minutes.
Thank you for the reply
Definitely be careful who you list. I had asked all of mine for this position so they were prepared and enthusiastic, but they did all comment that it was a very thorough questioning. Not really about skill, but how I am best managed, my potential for different roles, the kind of people I get along with. This should have been a red flag to me.
Hi op, did you get an offer from them? How long did you wait for the interview result?
Can I DM you? I have an interview coming up with Zoox soon...
I was in a similar position. According to the HR, we do require at least 1 senior person, and 1 cross functional peer for reference checks. It's my first time to encounter this issue as I am still at my current job. I want to keep secret to all the co-workers before finalizing the move. Does this make sense? Can we say no to HR and ask to postpone to the join date check?
At OP, RUN!!!!!
