@elena25 I'm not a SWE. So many of you codemonkeys (no offense intended) don't realize that most of IT isn't comp'd the way you are. I'm an infrastructure guy, so a 120k base in the DFW area is toward the top of the market for a (Design and Build) Engineer. We get 10-20% annual bonus, but no RSU, no signing bonus (unless you have a compelling reason to demand one).
We make far less than most SWEs I see posting on blind.
TC: 132k If I had stayed where I was in 2016, my TC would be less than 100k; I've changed jobs 3 times since then.
Personally I also like to move every 2-4 years but I was recently hiring and my recruiter told me they avoid hoppers (less than 4 years) because it’s costly to the team to have to refill positions so quickly. It might still be narrowing your options to hop every 2 years, if other recruiters think like this.
