401k

My employer doesn't offer 401k and I'm looking to set it up by myself. Any suggestions? I'm new to this and I'd ideally like to withdraw upon retirement but I also want to know the impact of withdrawing it, say in 5-10 years after setting it up.

I don't have a suggestion on the 401k providers. But early withdrawal has a penalty of 10% and as usual you pay taxes on them depending on your tax brackets. But they are a great source for planning for retirements.

If you don’t know much about investing, set up an IRA with Vanguard and invest in low cost index funds until you learn more. Don’t put off investing until you feel you “know enough” though. The sooner you start investing, the better off you’ll be. The power of compounding interest!

Oath had it right. Vanguard has good, low fee index funds. Diversify (spread your money around) so that a big drop in any one market won't hurt so bad.

You can't create a 401k plan unless your self employed and have self employment income.
