When I got the first job, I saw for men in top management (sales department) using their power to have sex with much younger female subordinates. If you had sex with the manager, you often got a promotion or an easier sales target. The most disgusting thing was you would have sex with the manager, he would help you to transfer to other teams like marketing. Some would say that the women were using sex to get ahead, but whoever is in a position of power should know they shouldn't use it to take advantage of people below them. Some ppl (often men) say women do the same. Yeah, you're right. But in most cases, it's the men in power.
So here’s the thing I completely understand how hard and unfair it is for women to survive in male dominated workforce and it just sucks. I am totally against of any work place harassment of any degree. But I have zero sympathy for a woman who cries about unfairness because she had to sleep her way up. Tomorrow if a manager asks you to murder or rape someone for a promotion will you do it? So this misusing power of position and victim role play when you made a conscious choice to get ahead is not something you can cry for later in anyway. But then I wonder what about a single mom who has to keep her job to feed two kids at home. Who is forced to oblige into it for her survival and the whole thing starts turning into an involuntary prostitution and crime against humanity than just work place harassment or misuse of power.
Uhmmm are you saying we shouldn’t criticize it bc there might be a single mom who has to deal with it? What? Also, where in OP did you think the person is crying? Op was sharing a story witnessing abuse of power. Why are you reacting to this so emotionally? Op’s criticism is pretty valid.
And please work on your basic logical thinking. Murder/ rape are fundamentally different from having sex. If you don’t see those are not in the same category, you are simply not competent to make ‘comparison’. You know what ‘comparison’ means, right?
Sexuality is used as currency and it’s a supply and demand market that cuts both ways. That said there are men (like myself) who don’t behave this way just like there are women who don’t behave this way. Isn’t it also possible your “most cases” statistic is in part due to the fact that it’s not acceptable for men to report being taken advantage of in this way? I can safely say I’ve been sexually assaulted and am still afraid to discuss what happened to me as a 42 year old man.
I hear about this happening at big companies.
It does. That’s what drove me to find a company where the ratio was more balanced. Had a bad job before. Now, I love my job. Love it!
