I've been proactively looking for another job as I would like to find a steady or innovative company to grow long term. I've been applying to as many relevant positions as I can: supply chain, planning (supply and demand planning), program management. Luckily I've had a few onsite interviews at fb, apple, twitter, Dropbox. Unfortunately 2 hired internally, 1 went with another candidate and still waiting for decision on 4th. If the 4th is a no go, I'm back to the drawing board. I have been really proactive in applying to as many positions as I can that I have a chance. However I feel like there may be limited positions for these roles. I don't really get head hunted by the top tech companies like my engineering and programming friends do. I have to seek them out and hope for a chance. I don't have many close close friends that I feel comfortable getting a referral. Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. It's been probably 4+ months of search so far.
Reach out directly to the recruiters of the companies you’re interested in. Based on the department of focus, I’d target sending your message/resume to the ones most appropriate. I’d send the message around 8:30-9am as that’s when most recruiters check emails or inmails (during their commute). If your profile is a fit, the recruiters can fast track the process rather than applying to be part of a large pool.
How do u find recruiters to reach out to? LinkedIn search?
Search using “recruiter” at “company interested in”. Then depending on department, reach out to appropriate person. I.e. if you’re en engineer you’d reach out to a “Technical Recruiter” or “Engineering Recruiter”. If you’re looking for something more admin focused “G&A Recruiter” “Creative Recruiter” “Marketing Recruiter” etc
If anyone is comfortable to reference, I can introduce myself and share my background. Would be awesome to get referrals to FAANG or pretty much any Tech companies
Referrals don't need to be from close friends. Most of these companies pay referral bonuses, so anyone will be happy to refer you.
