14 yrs total experience. 10 yrs at MS. Senior SWE since a yr. Am I getting low balled?
No
Unlike Microsoft L6s(seniors) are rare in Amazon
The recruiters don't have room to negotiate on leveling. If you don't like the level, the only option is to reject the offer. ThisOrThat is correct, there are very few L6 at Amazon
TC?
Ratio of SDEs at amazon: 45% L4 (college hires) 45% L5 (industry hire) 9% L6 (Senior engineers, very hard to get external offer) 1% L7 and above, virtually impossible to get hired at. Source: SDE3.
I got L5 offer with 7 yoe, and never worked at any big tech companies.
Tons of people join amazon as l5 with over 15 yrs in other big tech company. Some people were even director. The org is flat here. However if you join amazon as l4 and perform really well, it’s also possible to be L6 at really young age. The range is wide here.
What's the offer like and ur current tc?
Definitely getting low balled..I don't mean you deserve L6 at amazon right now but the amount of time it will take you to get to next level will be less at Microsoft than at Amazon
