2 things: 1. You don’t get much RSUs if you are transferring as compared to a new hire from US. You would be losing money here. Most of the pay comes from sign on bonus/ RSUs, and you would miss that. 2. Amazon likes to hire on L1. Because H1 is so hard to get these days, so L1 employees cant transfer to other companies. Lot of my friends are in this scenario. They just keep moving from one team to the other. Now combine these 2 points: there is a high chance you would be stuck with Amazon for many years on low pay, and company will take advantage of you.

L1 can move on h1, but odds are low.
