Trying to establish a good indication on total comp to help myself and future others in the same position to negotiate. If you can share your experience that would be awesome:

Stay far away from Amazon. Worst culture and low base pay since they will ask you to rely on stocks for total comp

Based on my choices do you suggest joining Amazon or not?

It’s your career but I would go with Amazon. Keep your current life style at 160k TC and bank the extra 100k increase. You have lived this far without it and you will thank yourself later when your savings are that much further ahead. Especially with only having 2 more tries on your h-1b. Don’t worry about layoffs due to performance what you read on Blind are overblown.

I am also not worried about putting 70 hour weeks if needed. I survived two top CS schools in the world. So I am sure I can put in more hours and survive at Amazon. Are you from Amazon as well? If so do you know GC policy at Amazon? So you’d advice me to take Amazon right?

You can save like crazy and you will be fine at Amazon for 2 years. If they want to mess with you or you are tired of the stress then you’ll have a bunch of savings, Amazon on your resume and can get another job

And L6@AWS says not to worry because they weren’t in the 10%. It’s only a matter or time for anyone. Doesn’t matter if you are good or not. You can be the best and have a manager target you for anything they like. I am leaving Amazon but am glad I put in the time. It’s def a nice thing to have on the resume.
