Amazon folk - How can I get the best head start as I join as an SDE1

I'm not a new grad but rather an Industry Hire with 2 YOE. Joining in Prime Video in Seattle. I'm a Java dev, taking up a Java dev position but I'm used to using the azure cloud tech stack and not AWS. (Gap for some reason thinks amazon is a competitor bc nobody goes to malls anymore lol) Anyways - I start next July. I wanted to do some reading or learning about the tools beforehand so I don't fall behind. I was a pretty fast learner at my old job but still. I want to put in the effort and make a good impact

I think you have to join before some date in first week of July to be eligible for hike in Q1. Enquire your Hiring manager (not the recruiter. Recruiters lie) and make sure you join before that date. Else your TC is struck for 1.5years || till promo

Oh thank you! That's good to know. My start date is July 15th so probably after that point πŸ˜… and yeah I asked my recruiter about things like that and was told it's fine. I will ask my hiring manager though!

Of course it’s fine. The more money Amazon saves, the finer it is.

I'd recommend reading up about and if time permits, playing around with Dynamodb, S3, SQS and Lambda.

Thank you!!! Any good pointers on where to start? Or just look at Amazon documentation? Definitely wanted to familiarize myself with that tech stack

Public aws documentation and case studies are pretty good.
