With Google’s culture changing fast, which company fits this best? Innovative Collaborative Has open dialogue between engineers and senior leadership Has brilliant engineers
Can you give some examples of culture change?
Sure. Garbage execs start firing people willy nilly, and dropping perks. Culture goes down the drain with dropping morale. For example.
It is not the Google that I worked for in 2006. It was a dream place, we chose what to work and the pace of work as long as we were passionate and delivered quality work and a lot of perks. Sorry for the decline.
It's funny how people assume culture is homogenous across teams and orgs of hundreds of thousands of people🤣🤣🤣 Various orgs on the same office building on the same floor can be wildly different. Tell me you're a low experienced/new grad without telling me you don't have enough experience
Senior leaders make changes that drive culture and indicate to mid-management what sort of cultural expectations they have. A CEO who micromanages VPs will likely lead to VPs micromanaging directors. Will you have exceptions? Of course. But moves by senior leaders will shift the distribution of individual team cultures. Tell me you’ve only worked at Amazon without telling me you’ve only worked at Amazon.

WITCH
All of big tech is tainted at this point. Find a promising startup.
GOOG is now MBA culture.
Anduril probably. May not agree with Luckey's politics but he sounds actually good as CEO. Grimm, Schimpf and other ex-Palantirians in senior positions are the real deal too.
99% of the time startup eng culture (esp at a company like anduril) is shit because they move incredibly fast and are very intense. I had an offer with them and coming from another top startup, thats the vibe I got.
fast culture is sort of orthogonal to learning imo. You learn with more scope and good colleagues, not when you have to get a feature out at 11pm on a Saturday because of an arbitrary deadline on Monday.

Why does leetcode get so much hate?
netflix is relatively tiny, would be curious how employees describe the culture
It's chill. That's where the phrase Netflix n Chill comes from
It's a good thing Microsoft has good culture working for it, at least
