I’ve been offered an L6 engineering manager at Amazon after being in the startup world for a while, so I’m having a hard time figuring out if this is a good offer or not. the details are below Base: 155K Sign on: 120K 95K 0 0 Stock: 185 Shares Vesting Schedule: 5% 15% 40% 40% thanks in advance!

Bad. Shoot for 370k+
It seems like they're lowballing you
Big lowball for external hire. That’s basically the bottom of the band, ie where they’d put someone freshly promoted, but to hire you externally they decided you raised the bar, I.e. were better than 50%
This is correct. Push for more
I agree with your observations. But I don’t think there is a correlation between being in the upper 50% and higher pay in the band. The way our pay works, everyone except TTs get bottom of the band, eventually anyways. From what I see, how much new hires get with respect to the band is usually tied to whether they have other offers to bid against. Otherwise, why would the company budge?
Did you give them your expectations?
I did not, however they know I’m coming from the startup world where salaries are definitely lower
Looks low. Best way to know if them and not you, get another offer from FANGMULLA in the 🌲fiddy range.
This is within the band. Could you go higher? Sure there is room. It’s up to you if you can convince them to up it for you. Just saying “I find that it is low and I know there is room for more” doesn’t work.
Bottom of band offer
Levels.fyi indicates you can get more.
